The Cool-Girl Beauty Brand to Try ASAP
You may have noticed Glossier products gracing the social media feeds of your favorite bloggers and it-girls, but you won’t see this elusive makeup brand on the shelves of your most frequented beauty stores. Glossier sells exclusively online, making it just a little bit harder to choose which of their sought after products to try first. After all, swatching and testing makeup in stores is a big part of the decision making process, but with their viral word of mouth marketing Glossier doesn’t need to hit physical retailers to be a success.
Starting as a blog called Into the Gloss, Glossier had a built in follower base before their products even hit the market. On their blog they do makeup and skincare profiles in what’s called the Top Shelf, and recently did one on Emma Watson that’s worth a read (especially if you like sustainable products). I eventually decided I had to give their products a try after seeing a Black Friday sale, and I’ve been testing them out ever since to see what I think.
Glossier Stretch Concealer: The brand encourages women to embrace their natural beauty by creating “no-makeup” makeup, and this concealer is no exception. It provides a light coverage that basically blurs imperfections without totally camouflaging them. I love to wear it under my eyes because you can’t even tell it’s there other than the tiny brightness boost you get from the concealer. If you’re looking for full coverage concealer though, this is not the product for you. When it comes down to it, I’m much more likely to reach for my Urban Decay Naked Concealer because it’s more of an all in one product.
Glossier Balm Dotcom: My love for this product’s gimmicky name may have swayed my decision to give it a try, but after a few months of using it I don’t think I’ll be going without it anytime soon! I love this stuff for any kind of skin ailment. It’s a do-it-all salve that can be used on the lips or any other areas of dry skin. I apply it to my lips every night before bed and have been pleased with the results, but what really sold me is the 2-in-1 factor. Throughout the winter my hands sometimes get painfully dry, and Balm Dotcom healed my skin overnight!
Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser: The Milk Jelly Cleanser does a great job cleansing the skin without leaving it feeling stripped of moisture. I can appreciate the comfortable feeling after I use it because I’ve definitely had cleansers that leave the face feeling tight and dry. I use it most often in the mornings, but it also does a decent job at removing makeup in the evenings. I’ve had a bit of trouble using the cleanser to remove waterproof mascara, but overall it does a great job. As much as I have enjoyed it, I don’t know that I’ll repurchase this one because the Clinique Cleansing Balm is still my preferred way to take my makeup off at night. But if you prefer a face wash over a thick balm, then you’ll love this!
